Dr. McCarley graduated from Duke University Medical School then studied internal medicine, hematology, and medical oncology at the University of Florida.

He is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honorary Medical Society, a fellow of the American College of Physicians, and is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology. He served on the national bone marrow transplant review board. Dr. McCarley has a particular interest in solid tumors including lung cancer and head and neck cancer. Dr. McCarley is board certified in internal medicine and medical oncology.
